Australian Standard Method of Measurement (ASSM):

  • Section 7
  • We use the ASSM to describe the scope for masonry work as a guide only
  • Any agreed or contract scope of work will more than likely vary from the scope of work under the ASSM
  • The scope of work set out in Rawlinsons also varies from the scope of work under the ASSM
  • The ASSM often includes the same items of work under multiple Sections

Scope of work under ASSM:

  • Masonry including walls, skins of cavity walls | piers | filing openings | fireplaces and chimney stacks | projections | backing to masonry or similar work | vaulting | thickenings built against existing wall | pavings and steps | panels | flush bands | arches | quoins | sills and similar items | copings | pier caps | kerbs | mouldings and similar features | boilers | beam blocks and lintels | sundry items | control joints and expansion joints | rough chases | cutting grooves | cutting | angles | wall ties | concrete filing | rod and bar reinforcement | bonding ends of new walls to existing | levelling and preparing tops of existing walls for raising | pinning up new load bearing work | glass blocks | damp proof courses and flashings | ant caps | sundries |
