Australian Standard Method of Measurement (ASSM):

  • Section 20
  • We use the ASSM to describe the scope for finishes as a guide only
  • Any agreed or contract scope of work will more than likely vary from the scope of work under the ASSM
  • The scope of work set out in Rawlinsons also varies from the scope of work under the ASSM
  • The ASSM often includes the same items of work under multiple Sections

Scope of work under ASSM:

  • In situ applied finishes including walls and ceilings | columns, piers and beams | structural steel framing | cornices and mouldings | sills and copings | metal trims | existing walls, making good openings, etc | vent faces
  • Metal lathing including walls, ceilings and similar items
  • Plasterboard, fibrous plaster, plaster acoustic tiles and similar including walls and ceilings | beams and column casings | columns, pilasters, etc | cornices and mouldings | stopping the internal angle between ceiling and wall | metal trims | anchors, domes, etc | vent faces
  • Tile, slab, block or sheet finishes, pavings and carpets including walls and ceilings | tiling, ceramic, mosaic quarry, terracotta | floor tiling | columns, piers and beams | floors, carpets and modular carpet and cork, tile and sheets | linoleum, vinyl and rubber| paving, cement based paving, exposy finishes and paving pavior and terrazzo| staircases | skirtings | kerbs and sills | channels, ducts and similar items | forming spoon drains and similar items | flush bands, raised or sunk bands | flush bands of in-situ materials | flush panels and raised or sunk panels | edges | covers, cappings, mouldings, etc | fittings | mat sinkings, covers | pre-cast slab thresholds
  • Division strips and inserts including division strips | non slip inserts and nosing strips | sets of grooves in stair treads
